The ANL tethersonde was located at 37.65 N 96.73 E at the Leon main site. File names are in form of ssddhhmm where ss = site (le) dd = day of month (October 99 assumed) hh = hour (GMT) mm = min of approximate beginning of run The raw data consisted of pressure, dry bulb temperature, wet bulb temperature, wind speed and wind direction measured at roughly 10 s intervals. The data files consist of 2 header lines followed by the data 1st hdr line: STUDY CASES99 SITE TWR17 TET 700.540 4168.654 date time *** the only parts of this line that change are date and time*** 2nd hdr line: DATE TIME Pr(mb) Ht(m) Td(C) Tw(C) RH(%) VAP(hPa) R(g/kg) PT(K) SPEED(m/s) DIR *** all of these should be self explanatory *** data ***date is yymmdd*** ***time is hhmmss (GMT)*** ***other fields are obvious*** ***except the last, which is the direction of the tethersonde*** ***H = Hold *** ***R = Raise *** ***L = Lower *** final line is 88888888 Best attempts were made to eliminate data when tethersonde was descending or rising rapidly.
